Hilltop nuptials

When thinking about a wedding venue, a nursing home might not come to mind. But for nursing home residents Jerald Vegley and Kimberly Barnett Hilltop on Main in Meridian was the perfect place for their nuptials.

On Aug. 18, Jerald and Kimberly said their “I Do’s” in a wedding planned and decorated by nursing home staff, with Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Jamie Zander officiating.

After the ceremony, the newly-weds had a honeymoon experience in one of the nicest rooms in the assisted living facility next to the nursing home.

Wheelchair-bound Vegley and Barnett came to Hilltop about a month ago, already planning to wed. And thanks to the friendly assistance of the nursing home staff – especially activities director Amber Vrana and Social Worker Sarah Edwards - that went the extra mile taking to get their marriage license at the courthouse, getting bouquets, decorations, calling the Justice of the Peace, a dream came true.
