Hardin recalls Christmas camels history

The Epiphany is celebrated 12 days after Christmas on Jan. 6 and is the time when Christians remember the Wise Men who followed the Star of Bethlehem bearing gifts, to find Jesus in his manger.

James Hardin recalls that when he was a young boy, when the family came to Meridian during Christmas time, they were always greeted with a festive and spiritual image rolled into one -the lights draped from the courthouse and the Wise Men on their camels on top of the courthouse, and the guiding star – it could be seen far and wide, and it was spectacular in his child’s mind.
