Despite wrapping up the first round of District 14-2A compeition with a pivitol victory over Hico March 26, the Meridian Yellowjacket baseball team has slipped into a three-game losing skid to open the second round.

Scoring only three runs in three games, Meridian opened the second round with a 6-1 loss to sixth-ranked Bosqueville before losing to Hamilton, 11-1, last Tuesday and third-place Crawford, 8-1, last Friday.

“It’s hard to win games when you’re giving up as many free bases as we are right now,” Meridian baseball head coach Ryan Moreau said. “We gave Hamilton and Crawford too many chances. We’re giving up too many walks, and we’re not playing good defense. That combination makes it hard to win games. We have not been hitting the ball well either.”
