GWH sees significant drop in COVID-positive cases

Positive COVID-19 cases have dropped significantly over the past seven days as daily testing continues at Goodall-Witcher Healthcare. Over the last seven days, GWH has seen a 28.0% positive rate among those tested for COVID-19, compared to a 49.5% positive rate over the previous seven reporting days.

President and CEO of Goodall-Witcher Healthcare Adam Willmann gave commissioners an update of COVID-19 during Monday’s meeting. “Two weeks ago we were averaging about 50 tests a week with a 3% positivity rate,” said Willman.

As of 11:50 p.m. Monday, the Texas DSHS reported 1,403 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in Bosque County, up 12 from last week, and an additional 317 cases were probable. 23 cases were active, and 1,660 individuals had fully recovered. The number of deaths in the county remained at 37.

As of 12:55 p.m. Monday, the Texas DSHS reported 1,377 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in Bosque County, up only one from last week, and an additional 311 cases were probable. Only 11 cases were active, and 1,643 individuals had fully recovered. The number of deaths in the county remains at 34.

During Monday’s Bosque County Commissioners Court meeting, Bosque County Emergency Management Coordinator Chris Anderson said zero deaths from COVID-19 were reported across the state. “This is the first time in a year and a half that that number was actually zero,” said Anderson.

Bosque County Emergency Management Coordinator Chris Anderson told Commissioners Court Monday he was approached by Health and Human Services last week to ask if there were any homebound, elderly or nursing home residents who had not received the COVID-19 vaccine. Anderson said he reached out to the nursing homes and other agencies excluding Senior Services to see if any residents who wanted the vaccine were unable to receive it.

Bosque County seems to be on the right path when it comes to staving off COVID-19. “For the last four weeks, recovered cases have outpaced new cases so that’s why the active number is steadily dropping,” said Bosque County Emergency Management Coordinator Chris Anderson.
