Petition filed against county treasurer in District court

A petition to remove County Treasurer Carla Sigler from elected office was filed in the District Court of Bosque County on April 21, 2022. Bosque County resident Tonya Fossett filed the petition complaining of the failure of Sigler to comply with the requirements of law governing the Office of County Treasurer, according to court documents obtained, and Fossett seeks to remove Sigler from her office pursuant to the provisions of Texas Local Government Code Chapter 87.

Nature Tales brings Pacific Northwest to Clifton, Texas

The annual “Nature Tales” gathering was hosted again by Donna Stevens who introduced speaker Donna Quarles. This event is usually a discussion of Texas wildlife and gardens, however, this year crossed the state lines to the Pacific Northwest when the Quarles (Glen) hiked, tramped and camped.

Tangerine Beauty crossvine, a native Texas vine with showy trumpetshaped blooms and evergreen foliage, has been named the newest Texas Superstar plant. Tangerine Beauty is known as crossvine due to the pattern inside its crosscut stem.

Historical Commission offers program on Colony at Kent

The Bosque County Historical Commission invites all citizens to a special program to be presented on Saturday May 14th at the Meridian Civic Center beginning at 12 noon. The program is “The Colony at Kent,” presented by Travis Bryant.

Two teens arrested after fight in Clifton City Park

Seventeen-year-old Clifton High School students Savannah Walker and Ahliah Vestal were arrested by the Clifton Police Department and charged with aggravated assault in retaliation after another student, Maya Tremillo, was asked to meet her friend in the park then attacked. Walker was arrested on April 18 and Vestal was arrested on April 20, both by Clifton Police Chief Chris Blanton.

Early voting underway as May 7 election nears

Early voting began Monday for the Saturday, May 7 Uniform Election. On the ballots will be city and school district elections, as well as Texas Constitutional Amendments. The last day of early voting is Tuesday, May 3.
