County earns Safety Achievement Award

Bosque County has earned a 2021 Safety Achievement Award from the Texas Association of Counties Risk Management Pool for its record of commitment to safety in the workplace, as well as controlling the county’s workers’ compensation claims.

Storm spotter training program scheduled Feb. 3

The 2022 severe weather season is not too far away, and the National Weather Service and local public safety officials want you to be ready. The National Weather Service will be conducting a free, virtual severe weather training class for Bosque County on Thursday, February 3rd 2022, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Officially called the SKYWARN Storm Spotter Class, the program will be held in partnership with the Bosque County Office of EmergencyManagement. Registration for this online class can be found at www.weather.gov/fwd/ skywarnmap. There is no cost to attend this class.

City welcomes Blanton as new Clifton Chief of Police

Clifton Police Officer Chris Blanton was sworn in as Clifton’s new chief of police Friday, Jan. 21, after Clifton City Council unanimously voted to hire Blanton after coming out of executive session during a rescheduled city council meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 19.

Poole earns all-state honors

Clifton High School senior Gavin Poole earned a spot in the 2022 ATSSB All-State Band, which will present a concert on Saturday, Feb. 12 in San Antonio. This will be Poole’s second time to perform as a member of the ATSSB All-State Band.

New owners unveil plans for closed Laguna Park marina

Whitney Ridge, formerly Uncle Gus’ Marina and Resort in Laguna Park, is undergoing renovations to bring the landmark back into working order. Brothers and new owners Gerry and Terry McDowell, along with Gerry’s wife Bridget, visited with the West Shore Civic Association, sharing their plans for the future.

Neelley takes oath of office at Clifton City Council

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, Clifton City Council called to order a regular session meeting. Previously recommended David Neelley officially took oath of office to serve on Clifton’s City Council, filling a vacant seat left behind when Alderman Jim Heid resigned at the end of 2021.
