Clifton ISD put on a service awards and retirement ceremony for its staff members at the Performing Arts Center Monday. The awards ceremony was not held last year because of COVID-19, but retirees and service awards from the 2019-2020 school year were recognized during this year’s ceremony.

Clifton High School seniors flipped their tassels Friday evening, signaling the end of their high school career and the beginning of a new chapter. “Let us celebrate a step forward to new places with new people and new experiences,” said Ellison Li, the third highest-ranking graduate.

COVID-19 update

As of 4:45 p.m. Monday, the Texas DSHS reported 1,376 cases of COVID-19 had been confirmed in Bosque County, up seven from last week, and an additional 310 cases were probable. Only 17 cases were active, and 1,635 individuals had fully recovered. The number of deaths rose by one over the last week, bringing the total for the county to 34.

Community dedicates historical marker in Cayote

A dedication ceremony for the Cayote Community Official Texas Historical Marker was held at the Cayote United Methodist Church outside Valley Mills this past Sunday. One of the earliest communities in southern Bosque County, Cayote was established around 1867 near Childress Creek when John Cox established his store, known as the Lone Grocery.
