The Bosque County Commissioners Court during its meeting on Monday, March 4, approved closing the county’s governmental offices on the day of the upcoming total solar eclipse. The court also approved the submission of a letter to the Texas governor’s office expressing intent to declare a disaster due to the solar eclipse that will cross over the entire county.

The last day to register to vote in the city and school elections in May ends on Thursday, April 4. The six candidates running for the two seats on the Clifton Independent School District’s Board of Trustees include: Sean Marmolejo, Steve Conrad, Taylor McCain, Jose Ritz, Matthew Domel, and Nick Brown.

This week Bosque County will be rolling out the welcome wagon for possible visitors attracted to the total solar eclipse. Civic organizations, faith groups, and small businesses across the county have scheduled events showcasing their unique brands of Texas hospitality.

A Who’s Who of maternity healthcare specialists from rural areas across America met in Clifton for the 2024 Rural Obstetrics Innovations Summit on Thursday, March 21. Representatives from over 20 organizations shared and listened to stories about how hospitals, doctors practicing obstetrics, and their respective communities teamed up to ensure mothers and their newborn children receive the best care possible in rural America.

Bosque Election Integrity (BEI) will host a summit about election integrity at the Clifton Civic Center at 403 West Third Street in Clifton. Representatives from Gillespie County, Texas, will be on hand to discuss their recent Republican Party primary election that utilized hand-counted paper ballots.

The Meridian Mobile Food Pantry is seeking volunteers to assist with its monthly food distributions within the city limits. Jennifer Lumpkins, local mobile food pantry’s head coordinator, said having an additional 10 people work for an hour a month would be of great benefit to the pantry’s clients.
