NCBC Hosts Annual Fundraiser

The National Championship Barbeque Cookoff hosted its annual auction and BBQ dinner Saturday evening where guests bid on items in the silent auction, enjoyed a delicious BBQ dinner, and participated in a live auction afterwards. Proceeds from the fundraiser went to the Meridian Parks and Recreation Department. Turn to Page 3 for more!

Clifton Study Guild holds final meeting

The Clifton Study Guild, founded in 1953, met for their final meeting September 16, 2020. It was on November 2, 1953, when a group of vocational women of Trinity Lutheran Church gathered in the home of Ada Marie Polk to discuss forming an auxiliary in the church to be known as the “Business & Professional Women’s Auxiliary.” At their meeting held on January 12, 1954, the constitution and bylaws were adopted.

COVID-19 Death in Bosque

Lutheran Sunset Ministries released a statement on Facebook Sunday informing the community of the death of a 98-year-old female resident who previously tested positive for COVID-19. “Our hearts go out to the family and friends of our resident as well as our employees who provided he their care,” the statement said.

Bosque COVID-19 Update

Bosque County reported 324 positive cases of COVID-19 this week, which is an increase of 30 over the same report last week. Bosque County has tested 3282 with 324 positive tests, 245 recoveries, 63 active cases and six fatalities.

BCSO arrests Waco area teen

Andrew Smith, 17, was arrested on September 16 and charged with indecent exposure. According to a press release on the Bosque County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, on September 13 the suspect exposed himself inside Dollar General in Laguna Park.

Meridian PD busts burglar

According to a press release on Facebook, Meridian Police Department responded to a report of multiple thefts from a local address around 9:00 p.m. on September 19.

Bosque County Arrest Report

■Kevin Martin Cvikel, 26, of China Spring, was arrested on September 11 for telecommunications theft of $1500 or more, but less than $20,000. ■Robby Don Johnson, 51, of Cleburne, was arrested on September 11 for manslaughter and two counts of aggravated assault leading to serious bodily injury.

Bosque County reported 294 positive cases of Covid-19 this week which is an increase of 31 over the same report last week. Bosque County has tested 2906 with 294 positive tests, 223 recoveries, 63 active cases and 6 fatalities.
