Bosque County seems to be on the right path when it comes to staving off COVID-19.

“For the last four weeks, recovered cases have outpaced new cases so that’s why the active number is steadily dropping,” said Bosque County Emergency Management Coordinator Chris Anderson.

He attributes the decline in new cases in large part to efforts by Goodall-Witcher Healthcare to vaccinate Bosque County residents.

At 3:40 p.m. Monday the Texas DSHS website reported 1,329 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Bosque County and 294 probable cases. Only 26 cases remain active while 1,564 individuals have recovered. There have been 33 deaths in the county.

On Monday morning, Goodall-Witcher reported 7,885 individuals have been tested for COVID-19. 5,565 tests came back negative while 946 were positive. There were no tests pending at the time.

Goodall-Witcher is continuing to schedule appointments for second doses of the Moderna vaccine. Registration is available at www.gwhealthcare.org or by calling the COVID-19 hotline at 254-675-7941.

Johnson County has been designated as a hub for COVID-19 vaccinations and has listed Bosque County as a county they are supporting.

1000 doses of the vaccine will be earmarked for the hub each week and will be given by appointment only.

The sign-up list opens at 9 a.m. every Monday morning and those interested in receiving the vaccine will need to register online at ww.cleburne.net/covid19vaccine or call 817-357-4456 for assistance. Once all doses have been accounted for, registration will close until the next Monday.

The Cleburne Fire Department is administering the vaccines and is adamant about only allowing individuals who qualify under Phase 1A and 1B in the distribution plan to receive them.

At 3:24 p.m. Monday the DSHS website reported 4,512 individuals in Bosque County had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 2,041 individuals have been fully inoculated. Anderson believes the number of fully vaccinated individuals is a combination of those who received the single dose as well as the two-dose vaccines.
