Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) has launched a new tool called Tomorrow Ready Texas to help parents and guardians support their teens with college and career planning. The tool provides Texas families with the resources they need to support their child’s success after high school – in college, a career, or military service.

The Clifton City Council accepted the resignation of Clifton’s mayor during its regular meeting on Tuesday, February 14. Mayor Richard Spitzer tendered a letter of resignation the previous week, ending his term weeks before the May 6 election for the City of Clifton.

County commissioners discuss outdoor burn ban

Bosque County Commissioners Court has not issued a burn ban in recent weeks due to the balance in precipitation, soil, and temperature levels in the county. Kirk Turner, Bosque County Emergency Management Coordinator, has recommended no burn ban each week in the new year; however, he is teaming with the Bosque County Sheriff’s office to encourage folks to pause their burning on a case-by-case basis according to weather conditions.

Chief Broome memorial BBQ dinner fundraiser set Feb. 18

The Lakeside Village Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary will hold a memorial barbeque dinner on Saturday, February 18, in honor of the VFD’s deceased Fire Chief Rex Broome. The dinner is being prepared by Rex’s daughter Amy and son-in-law David Webb who own and operate D-N-A Catering and who donate all proceeds to the LakesideVillage Ladies Auxiliary.
