Albert Biggs age 70, of Meridian, passed away on May 11, 2022, in Waco surrounded by family.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian. Pastor Richard Creech and Pastor Yohan Baek officiated. Burial was in the Meridian Cemetery. Visitation was on Friday, May 13, 2022, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

Albert was born in Plainview on February 16, 1952, to James Gillis and Ruby Estelle Simmons Biggs. At five years old the family moved to Eastland where he grew up and was educated. After graduating from high school, he went to work for TxDot but he knew it was not his passion. His love for law enforcement came at an early age as you would often times find him doing ride-alongs with the police.

Albert worked as a police officer in Eastland, Gorman, Bosque County and finally ended his law enforcement career as Chief for the city of Meridian.

After retirement he became known as a shade tree mechanic. He loved to tinker and fix things.

Albert married Betty Dyon on October 12, 1990, in Cranfills Gap. Often times you would find Albert fishing or hunting snakes. If someone had a snake problem they knew who they could call. His passion in life was helping people. If he found a car stranded on the side of the road he would bring them back to his house and let them eat or spend the night until they could get their car fixed. He wanted everyone to get along and be nice to each other. He will be missed.

Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Betty Biggs; children, Bobby Biggs and wife, Lynn, Amy West and Erron, Shauna Turner and husband, Dalton, Missy Stewart and husband, Michael, Melinda Villarreal and husband, Ruben, Lisa Altman and companion Heather Pirie; grandchildren, Ryatt, Alexis and Morgan; numerous other step-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

Preceded in death by his parents, James Gills and Ruby Estelle Simmons Biggs; twin brother, Delbert Biggs, and brother, Clayton Biggs.
