Beatrice Felan

Beatrice Felan, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Monday, August 9, 2021, at home. She was born on January 11, 1925, to parents Santos and Romana Rodriguez in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She married the love of her life, Sexton Mathias Felan, in September of 1946 who preceded her in death in 1993. Sexton and Beatrice cherished 47 years together, raising seven children prior to Sexton’s passing and 28 years to the day, it is only fitting that he returned for his love.

Beatrice loved to spoil her family and lived with a servant’s heart. Whether it be creating delicious homemade meals for her children, grandchildren, husband or a stranger, when you walked in her door, she always greeted you with a meal and an infectious smile. She rarely sat still, except to watch a telenovela, and took great pride in her family and never gave up on her Dallas Cowboys. She loved to celebrate her family's successes and she consoled with the warmest embrace. She was the perfect example of Christ. She was kind, loving, always forgiving and led a life filled with grace and compassion, never with a single complaint. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”

For 20 years, Beatrice served as an inspector seamstress at Walls sewing factory in Clifton and retired in 1981. Upon retiring, you could find Beatrice caring for neighbors, cooking, sewing and sharing stories with her loved ones. This suited her servant’s heart.

Beatrice is predeceased by her parents Pedro and Romana; husband, Sexton; and children, Romana Felan Leos (daughter), Sexton Mathias Felan, Jr. (son), George Felan (son), David Felan (son), and Martin Garcia Jr. (son-in-law); sister, Oralia Tarango; brothers , Miguelito, Abenago, Emiliano, and Leon Rodriguez.  Beatrice is survived by her children, Pauline Felan Moreno (daughter), Susan Felan Garcia (daughter) and husband Teddy Garcia, Rubin Felan (son) and Karla Childers (daughter-in-law), Beatrice Felan Garcia (daughter), Frank Leos (son in law), daughter-in-law’s , Mary Felan, Maria Felan, Dominga Ybarra (sister), Dolores Tobias (sister), Josephina Soto (sister), Miguel Rodriguez (brother), and 19 Grandchildren: Joey Leos, Christy Leos, Kimberly R Jasso, Marcus Moreno, Chale Moreno, Brian Bason, Rueben Garcia, Christopher Garcia, Teddy Garcia, Teresa Garcia Covey, Sexton Felan Jr. (Matt), Felicia Felan, David Felan Jr., Freddy Felan, Pam Felan Jimenez, Jehramy Felan, Dylan Felan, Amanda Garcia, Alex Garcia. Beatrice is also survived by an army of 31 great grandchildren and three great - great grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

Please join us celebrating Beatrice’s life by visitation, Friday, August 13, 2021, beginning at 6 p.m. with Recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m., with funeral service following Saturday morning, August 14, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian, Texas.
