Billie Elaine Saunders, 75, of Clifton passed away on December 18, 2021. A memorial service was held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2022, at Clifton Funeral Home. 

Billie was born in Gatesville on September 20, 1946, to Horace Vernon Williamson and Willie Mae Wollum Williamson.  She began a career in nursing at 15 years of age, graduating from Waco High School and then on to McLennan Community College where she received her LVN license. She later graduated with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1985. She retired from the old Waco Hillcrest Hospital and went back to school to get a gerontology license where she was the administrator of several nursing homes across Texas. She then went back and worked at Saint David's Hospital and Texas Neuro Rehab, both in Austin. She and her husband Larry Dale Saunders Sr. moved to Clifton and she finished her nursing career at Goodall Witcher Hospital in Clifton where she retired. Billie had been a nurse for 60 years and supervisor for 55 years. She enjoyed helping people and taking care of them. She and Larry were married for 30 years. She was preceded in death by her parents. 

She is survived by her son, Jimmie Dale Jones of Tennessee Colony, TX; stepson, Larry Dale Saunders Jr. of China Spring; granddaughter, Jeannie Marie Johnson of Archer City; and grandsons, Kameron Saunders and Preston Saunders of China Spring.

Siblings of Billie include Rosalie Elkins of Dallas, Carroll Laird and husband, Mark Laird of Bellmead, brother, Alan Dale Williamson and his wife, Judy Williamson of Killeen, brother, Jimmie Carroll Williamson and Nancy Lorraine DeFoor, who preceded her in death.

Jesus loved her and took her home.
