It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gonzalo O. Martinez, Jr., beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend on September 9, 2022. Gonzalo went home to be with God surrounded by his family and friends at 37 years old. He was the beloved husband of Karla Hernandez and dedicated father to two loving daughters who will miss him dearly, Natalia, age 9, and Anna, age 8.

Gonzalo grew up in Meridian and raised his young family in Bryan. He worked for Brazos County Fleet Services for the past five years. He was skilled in fixing anything mechanical. Gonzalo was a life-long Cowboys fan and lover of dogs. He enjoyed grilling and playing chess. Family and loved ones will miss his goofy personality. He always made them smile. Gonzalo treasured his role of being a father to two young girls and loved every moment he could spend with them.

In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by his mother, Maria Martinez of Meridian; sisters Araceli Maldonado (Noel) of Waco, Anna Martinez of Austin, Silvia Martinez of Bryan; and brother Silvano Martinez (Eloisa) of Dallas. Gonzalo was also a beloved uncle to Aaron Ruiz, Noah Martinez, Nolan Maldonado and Milani Maldonado.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that loved ones donate to the family’s GoFundMe, https://gofund. me/81361866.

All donations are greatly appreciated and will directly support Gonzalo’s family.
