John Bruington, age 88, of Valley Mills, Texas, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2020, at the  Lutheran Sunset Ministries in Clifton, Texas.  Funeral services will be 2 P.M. Saturday, Nov. 21, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church in Valley Mills under the direction of Foss Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kansas.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on the day of the funeral at the First United Methodist Church.  Memorials may be sent to the Lutheran Sunset Ministries, P.O. Box 71, Clifton, Texas, 76634.

John was born on March 7, 1932, at Meade, Kansas to Fred Richard and Ester Naomi (Robinson) Bruington .  He married Charlotte Metz on July 9, 1953, in Clayton, New Mexico.  They were married for 64 years prior to her death in 2018, and lived in Valley Mills since 1994.   John serviced in the Army and was a veteran of the Korean War.   He worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a postal inspector and postmaster and later retired from the Entergy Corp.   John was a member of the Mosheim Methodist Church and an active volunteer at the Lutheran Sunset Ministries.

He is survived by his three sons:  Steve Bruington and his wife Nancy of Seguin, Texas;  Mike Bruington of Valley Mills;  Richard Bruington and his wife Karen of Valley Mills; four grandchildren; Scott and wife Christina Bruington of Valley Mills, Curtis Bruington of Valley Mills, Lynn and wife Autumn Bruington from Seguin, Summer Greathouse and husband Jay of San Antonio; great grandchildren Madison, Kara, Kolby, Aizley, Rhett, Grace, Everley, and Lyla; a brother Milton Bruington, a sister Sally McCue; numerous  neices and nephews.
