Mary Aleise (McLaurin) Brittain passed away peacefully and with family November 10, 2020 at her home in Whitney, Texas. Funeral services were held at 1:00 pm, Friday, November, 13, 2020, at Lawson Funeral Home in Meridian, Texas. Pastor Richard Creech officiated.  Burial followed at Fairview Cemetery.

Mary was born August 4, 1926, to James W and Daisy B McLaurin in Cumberland County, North Carolina. She was united in marriage to David Earl Brittain, of Clifton, Texas, July 15, 1952 in Valdosta, Georgia. After 16 years of marriage, a daughter, Sharmon Brittain Roberson was born September 30, 1968.  Sharmon was their only child.

Mary worked as an administrative assistant in civil service and in law firms.  She enjoyed being able to stay home with her daughter during her upbringing and was a wonderful wife and mother.  Mary enjoyed reading, sewing, fishing, and was an amazing cook and hostess. Mary was adored for her Christian spirit and sweet character.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters LaGray Rhodes and Florence Fowler, and her beloved husband of 61 years.

Survivors include her daughter, Sharmon, and grandson Steven Keith Roberson.  She is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers include Bryan Brittain, Trace Hendricks, Brent Belcher, Joey Adams, Colten Scallion, and Caleb Dominguez.

The family would like to express our most heartfelt appreciation to Francis Freeman and her family.  Thank you for the loving care you provided to our precious mother & grandmother.  We will forever be grateful.

The family would also like to acknowledge the amazing compassion and care provided by Kim Evans, Krystal Fields, and Brandy Porter, members of the Community Hospice family.  The support, love, and guidance made Mom’s transition comfortable, not only for her, but for her loved ones.
