WhiteHaven Canine and BARK to offer Canine Good Citizen program

WhiteHaven Canine and Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK) are teaming up to present the Canine Good Citizen program, a two-part program that is designed to teach responsible dog ownership to owners; and certify dogs that have the training and behaviors needed to be reliable, well-behaved members of their families and communities.

Clifton senior wins Burton Lawless Scholarship

Clifton High School senior Cameron Bateson was honored on October 21 at Columbus Avenue Baptist Church as one of the recipients of the Burton Lawless College Scholarship. The scholarship is presented by the Heart of Texas chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Former Dallas Cowboy Burton Lawless established the scholarship and was in attendance to speak with the winners.

During the last two weeks the Meridian Yellow Jackets have been put through the grinder, trying to play football with COVID-19 looming over. Thursday, October 15, 2020 Coach Wade Morton was forced to postpone the Jackets game with Cross Plains due to one of his players testing positive for COVID-19.

The Meridian Yellow Jackets vs. Santo Wildcats game time has been moved back to Friday, October 29 in Meridian. The game is critical for both teams as they are both trying to make the playoffs. Santo comes into the game at 5-4 record while Meridian is 3-4, but Coach Wade Morton is confident his men can win this game.
